Superb IPA: Amarillo & Simcoe hops furnish an impression of Mango and Passion Fruit while a touch of Wheat and Oats provide a light, yet full mouth-feel. Pair with red pepper, curry, and integrity. 6.3% ABV

Weekend Lager: This particular beer is known as Weekend Lager because it’s what we enjoy when we want to kick back. made in the Munich Helles style and unfiltered like all our beer, it’s a little spicy but wholly smooth. Pair with BBQ, pizza, and humility. 4.8% ABV

Sommer Fling Hefe: Sommer Fling is as easy and satisfying as a summer love. Clove and bubblegum dominate the aroma of this traditional German-style hefeweizen, which boasts a hint of banana on the tongue. It pours cloudy with the pale golden tone of a setting sun. This effervescent brew, full of no-strings-attached deliciousness, will linger until the carefree summer turns to autumn. 5% ABV | 11 IBU

Murphy’s Amber: Murphy’s Law Amber Ale acknowledges the relentless and unexpected obstacles that challenged us at every stage of starting Smartmouth Brewing Co. Incidentally, Murphy was also the name of Porter’s pet boxer. This amber is balanced and its malty essence comes through with a subtle roastiness, countered just so by Cluster hops. This all-around beer is a smooth operator well adjusted for large crowds. 5.8% ABV | 35 IBU

Zepherweisse: For our take on hefeweizen, we devised a recipe that takes 70% wheat and 30% pilsner malt, plus a moderate dose of German Noble hops. The yeast exudes aromas of banana and mild citrus balanced with hints of clove. A perfect beer for springtime drinking! 4% ABV | 18 IBU

El Guapo: El Guapo, translated “the handsome one,” looks sexy, smells beautiful, and feels great! El Guapo is a medium-bodied Agave India Pale Ale with grassy citrus nose, notes of sweet caramel, and finishing with a smooth but strong bitterness.  7.5% ABV | 70 IBU

Larry’s Lemonade: Uh, it’s Lemonade. We make our Larry’s Lemonade with a malt base adding in Natural Flavors to create a sweet, enjoyable concoction that we like to think is better than the rest. Pale yellow, slightly cloudy, and very light carbonation. Natural tasting, sweet, and refreshing…in a “year round” kind of way. Generous amounts of flavor to camouflage the alcohol. 6% ABV

Feast of St. George IPL: This beer starts out as a classic marzen style lager featuring roasted and caramel malts balanced by a generous dry hop addition of East Kent Goldings to impart a lovely floral hop aroma. The hop notes compliment the malt base and build on that smooth crisp lager finish with a prominent hop flavor from beginning to end. 6% ABV | 27 IBU

ESP ESB: 2017’s first installment of our Urban Legend Series is inspired by a famed mystic and medical clairvoyant known as the most documented psychic of the 20th Century. He frequently and repeatedly demonstrated the ability to peer into the past and predict the future with uncanny and uncommon accuracy. The “Sleeping Prophet” would lie on a couch, drift off into a phase of dormancy and forecast events through the state of “Universal Consciousness.” It has been rumored that the “Miracle Man of Virginia Beach” even went so far as to foresee the remarkable harmony of flavors embodied in this latest Urban Legend Series, ESP ESB. The Legend Brewers also predict your enjoyment of this well-balanced ale. ESB pours a deep copper hue and posses a nose ripe with fruity aromas. It’s an English Bitter with a malt backbone, a low hop aroma and a small bite of bitterness and biscuit on the finish. 7.5% ABV 

Brown: The Virginia Original. Our most popular beer, Legend Brown Ale is a full bodied version of an American Brown Ale. Expect a rich, malt-forward brew with a beautiful mahogany tone. Generous amounts of specialty malts bring flavors of sweet caramel, toasted nuts, coffee, and molasses, all perfectly balanced by cautious hop dryness. Fruity undertones provided by our house yeast strain bring the final flavor element to round out this world class ale. 5.8% ABV | 19 IBU 


Cattywompus Belgian IPA: A blend of old & new world techniques, ingredients, and flavors. Brewed both like an IPA & Belgian ale, it blends pine and citrus hop flavors with hints of apple and pear from a special Belgian yeast strain to create unrivaled synergy.  Pineapple, Pear, Hop. 7.5% ABV | 50 IBU

Pear Lager: A revitalizing combination of pear and lager, this thirst quenching beer is light to medium in body and refreshing in character with a subtle pear flavor and aroma. Pear, Quaffable, Fresh. 4.9% ABV | 14 IBU


Big Papi Imperial IPA: The big brother version of Papi Chulo, super juicy with low bitterness! Big, round, all the hops monster of fruit and dank herbs. Hazy, unfiltered. 8% ABV | 61 IBU 

Wapatoolie: This IPA delivers a sweet Pineapple, Mango nose with tropical flavors courtesy of a carefully selected house yeast strain. Blond, full bodied, deceptively drinkable. 6.4% ABV | 90 IBU 


Lady in White Hefe: She might come to you in a dreamlike fog, or you could catch a glimpse of her through an upstairs window at dusk. Repeated sightings of this mysterious “Lady In White” have made her a notorious presence on Fort Monroe. Accounts differ as to her origin—some say she’s Jefferson Davis’ wife, Varina, who stayed in nearby quarters throughout his imprisonment in the fort. Others claim she’s a Civil War soldier’s wife who was unfaithful while he was away and subsequently murdered by him upon his return. No one really knows. But this hazy, German-style Hef with flavors of wheat, banana, and clove is so good it’s sure to give you chills, just like the mysterious apparition haunting Fort Monroe to this day. 5% ABV | 11 IBU 

Ox Cart Imperial Porter: Charlotte White was a former slave who became a successful entrepreneur by running a business from her ox cart on Fort Monroe. Each day she made the rounds among the fort’s soldiers, selling her freshly-baked pies. Our robust imperial porter’s caramel and dark chocolate flavors balance out its sweetness, bringing to mind Charlotte’s famous desserts. And you’ll quickly become a regular patron of this beer, just like the customers of her ox cart. 9.7% ABV | 46 IBU 


Laura’s Favorite Belgian Tripel: This strong Belgian style ale showcases our special yeast. Very pale in color, with a smooth malt backbone. Spice and citrusy on the nose to mask a high alcohol beer. 7.8% ABV | 33 IBU

King Street Kolsch: This is our version of the German Kolsch. Known for being the only cold beer you could buy in Germany. This is a golden colored beer with and nice malt backbone. Hop Bitterness is low. Brewed with German traditional hallertauer, which gives it a pleasant, mild, flowery flavor. 4.8% ABV | 20 IBU


Virginia Lager: Amber Ale. Medium body, light caramel, malt-forward. Deep amber. Special pale, CaraRed, Vienna, caramel 60, dark crystal, wheat and chocolate malts. Centennial hops. Scottish ale yeast. 5.3% ABV | 12 IBU 

Satan’s Pony: A Virginia Original. A cold-aged beer of the smoothest flavor, with gently toasted malt and a light hand of noble hops. We’ve created an easy-drinking beer with ample flavor and depth of color. 5% ABV | 18 IBU 


Space Dust IPA: A Totally Nebular IPA! The hopping is pure starglow energy, with Chinook to bitter and late and dry additions of Citra and Amarillo. Light to medium body. 8.2% ABV | 73 IBU 

Immortal IPA: Refreshing and hoppy. A Northwest interpretation of a classic English style, golden copper in color and loaded with New World hop flavor and aroma. Extremely drinkable. 6.3% ABV | 62 IBU 


Grapefruit Hibiscus: Pink blush from hibiscus petal infusion complemented by citrus aroma of grapefruit peel. Finish is crisp and tart for a truly refreshing cider! 9% ABV

Farmhouse Dry: Pale gold and effervescent with pronounced fruit aroma hinting of peach and melon. Don’t let the heady nose fool you – with no residual sugars, the flavor is crisp, tart, and exceptionally dry. Uniquely refreshing with a crisp finish that pairs well with a variety of foods including pork, duck, wild game, and aged cheeses. 8.5% ABV

Chin Music: Four different malted barleys are used in the mashing process. In the boil kettle, German Tettnang hops create a modest bitterness, just enough to balance with the malt. A Czech yeast strain is used during fermentation that leaves the beer looking clean and tasting malty. Chin Music then goes through a cold conditioning period (lagering) until the flavors are just right. Naturally carbonated, Chin Music is then filtered to remove any excess yeast. 4.5% ABV | 24 IBU 

Chic Saison: Chis Saison is a French Saison brewed with 130 pounds of Mangosteen Purée. Mangosteens are grown in southeast Asia, southwest India, and other tropical areas. They have a tropical flavor that is both tangy and sweet. It pairs perfectly with the estery and effervescent qualities of the French Saison base.


Red Willie Red Ale: This dark copper colored Red is malt-sweet and clean up front lightly bittered with East Kent Goldings and Fuggles hops with a drying finish. This easy drinking, flavorful beer is sure to please your palate. 5% ABV | 20 IBU

That Guy Imperial Stout: Two words: Chocolate and Cherries, do we have your attention? Tradition’s king of our stout family, That Guy… offers notes of dark chocolate paired with subtle dark fruit. Cherries and plenty of malt character give this beer a range of flavors from start to finish. 9% ABV | 61 IBU

 

Melon Gose: Born from our passion for experimentation, our Briney Melon Gose boasts a thirst-quenching tartness that is perfectly balanced by subtle watermelon flavors and aromas.  Gentle additions of sea salt create a refreshing harmony between the acidity and fruity sweetness leading to clean, dry finish. 4.2% ABV

KBS: What we’ve got here is an imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year to make sure wonderful bourbon undertones come through in the finish. Makes your taste buds squeal with delight. 12.4% ABV | 70 IBU


Waldo (DANK IPA): In 1971, the Waldos met one afteroon at 4:20 in the front courtyard of their school near the statue of Louis Pasteur. They set out in a ’66 Impala armed with a “treasure map” on a journey to find a secret garden near Point Reyes. They met there at the same time every day and continued their quest. They never found the secret garden….But they keep lookin’. The dankest and hoppiest beer ever brewed at Lagunitas was made with help of the Waldos for all treasure hunters. 11.9% ABV | 100+ IBU 


Neon Gypsy (Blood Orange IPA): The first foray into our Hop Continuum Series, our flagship IPA, Neon Gypsy, infused with blood orange juice, proved so popular that it transcended the series to stand on its own as a worthy companion to the original Neon Gypsy. Notes of grapefruit, citrus, and pine from a blend of seven hops balances the tart sweetness of blood orange juice in a flavor profile that roams your palate long after the beer’s bittersweet finish. 6.5% ABV | 55 IBU
